Oswego observed Memorial Day a few days early this year.
After the Oswego American Legion Post 675's annual Memorial Day parade was canceled due to concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, the village's weekly "Care-avan" of police, fire and public works department paid tribute to our nation's war dead with a procession Friday afternoon, May 22, through the village's downtown.
Squad cars, garbage trucks and vehicles from Oswego Township and Oswego School District 308 were decked out for the procession with the American flags, POW flags and flags representing the branches of the military.
Area residents of all ages came out to view the procession as it rolled down the village's Main Street.
The village has organized the weekly "Care-avans" of vehicles that have driven through neighborhoods throughout the community during the pandemic.
