The Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board of Education will meet on Monday to discuss a proposed plan to reopen schools amid the COVID-19 pandemic this year.

The Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 Board of Education will meet Monday night to consider and vote on another proposal to reopen next month amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The virtual meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, according to a district news release.

A prior plan in which students would have begun the school year entirely with remote learning failed with a 3-3 vote last week.

Community members can watch the meeting on Zoom and email comments until 5 p.m. on Monday.

The board will convene the meeting in open session at 7 p.m. then may retire to closed session.

Several District 202 teachers have been pushing the board to begin the school year with remote learning, arguing it is the safest way for them to return to work.
