Dani Brzozowski, the Democratic nominee for Congress in the 16th District, received another high profile endorsement in her challenge to U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger.
U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Matteson, endorsed Brzozowski in her campaign for Kinzinger's, R-Channahon, seat, according to a news release.
“Dani is a longtime organizer and activist who has demonstrated that she will put the people of her district first.” Kelly said in the release. “Dani will be a fresh, new voice who will make her district proud."
Brzozowski touted Kelly's endorsement and said if elected, she wanted to work with her on a number of legislative issues like gun violence prevention and lowering prescription drug prices.
Other Will County area members of Congress have backed Brzozowski's campaign including U.S. Reps. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, and Lauren Underwood, D-Naperville. Brzozowski has also received endorsements from U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the National Organization for Women, and the Illinois AFL-CIO.
Kinzinger easily won reelection in the heavily Republican district in 2018, defeating his opponent by a 59% to 41% margin.
The general election is set for Nov. 3.
