The La Salle County Health Department announced four new COVID-19 cases Friday, putting the number of known active cases at 44 countywide.

Two La Salle County women in their 20s, a man in his 20s and a man in his 30s each tested positive for the virus. They are in isolation.

Six new recoveries were announced Friday, increasing the number of recovered individuals to 185. There have been 246 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in La Salle County since the beginning of the pandemic.

Since Wednesday, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting two more cases in the ZIP codes for Mendota and Peru, as well as one more case each in Streator, Ottawa, Seneca, Sheridan and Somonauk.

The ZIP codes with all or a portion of the area in La Salle County with six or more confirmed cases since mid-March are: Marseilles, 47 cases out of 1,004 tests (4.7%); Ottawa, 43 cases out of 2,448 tests (1.8%); Sheridan, 30 cases out of 292 tests (10.3%); Mendota, 23 cases out of 485 tests (4.7%); Somonauk, 13 cases out of 394 tests (3.3%); Streator, nine cases out of 1,472 tests (0.6%); Seneca, nine cases out of 174 tests (5.2%); Peru, eight cases out of 705 tests (1.1%); La Salle, seven cases out of 911 tests (0.8%); and Earlville, seven cases out of 191 tests (3.7%).

In total, 9,783 La Salle County individuals have been tested for the coronavirus, which is 8.95% of the population.
