The Oswego School District 308 Board of Education approved the hiring of Tony R. Millard as Oswego East High School's athletic director for the 2020-2021 school year during its June 8 meeting.

According to a press statement issued by the district, Millard has served as the assistant principal of athletics and facilities at Centennial High School in Champaign beginning since 2015, where he oversaw the direction of 21 varsity athletic programs, among other responsibilities.

Millard has been in education since 2002. District documents confirmed that Millard will earn a base salary of $89,000 for the 2020-2021 school year.

Oswego East High School Principal Laura Bankowski said, "His previous experiences with teaching and coaching, as well as overseeing various athletic programs at Centennial High School gives Mr. Millard the skills needed to run a successful athletic program such as Oswego East's."

Millard received an associates of science degree in general studies from Illinois Central College in East Peoria; bachelor of science in secondary education from Illinois State University, in Normal; and a MS in educational leadership from American College of Education in Indianapolis.

"Oswego East is a phenomenal school," Millard said. "Everyone I meet talks about how great the people are to work with and how fantastic their students are. It is hard not to be excited about an opportunity like this. I think I am most excited to get started in meeting some of our students and the coaching staff."
