Streator Public Library reopened Monday with mask and social distancing requirements in place.
All checkouts will be handled in a contactless method – patrons will place their library card with the barcode face up on the counter with the materials they are checking out. Library staff will offer curbside services for seniors and high risk individuals.
Computers also will be available by reservation only with a one-hour time limit. Staff cannot assist those using computers until further notice.
Tutor meetings need to be scheduled, with only three people allowed at each meeting.
RAILS interlibrary loan system has started regular deliveries, allowing the Streator library to borrow materials from other libraries; all materials will be quarantined for three days for safety precautions. Staff will wear PPE and following all CDC guidelines.
The library has started its summer reading program. Registration is available at streatorpubliclibrary.org. The library also is offering “Grab and Go” craft kits for use in virtual events, which can be accessed on the Streator Public Library Facebook page.
