SYCAMORE – The Merchants of Downtown Sycamore will sponsor their ninth annual Out of School Food Drive July 1 through 18.

Usually the food drive focuses on children who cannot get enough food because they are out of school, but this year, with the COVID-19 pandemic, more people are facing food uncertainty. The need for donations is much greater than usual.

To combat this food uncertainty, the Out of School Food Drive aims to fill the Sycamore Food Pantry with items that can help anyone have a healthier diet. Food should be non-perishable and not past expiration dates. Items that can be donated include soups, cereal and canned vegetables, meat and meals.

Monetary donations will also be accepted.

Donations can be made at the multiple Sycamore businesses. Donate at one or at several to take advantage of the gifts the businesses are offering.

The following businesses will offer special gifts and promotions for those who donate:

Made Just for You – Spin the wheel for a free gift

Princess Alex Ice Cream – Free upgrade to a waffle cone

Sweet Earth Jewelry and Gifts – Receive 10% off the entire purchase of in-stock merchandise plus a free ECLOTH glass cleaning cloth. Cannot be combined with any other offer

Rustic Roots – Get a $5 off coupon

Christian Connection – Drop-off location only
