The Northern Illinois University announced earlier this week that former Kaneland star Katie Jablonski will join the Huskies' program.

Jablonski, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter from Kaneland, comes to NIU after playing at the University of New Hampshire in 2019. She played in 25 of 27 matches and averaged 1.68 kills per set. Jablonski had five matches with double-digit kills with a season-high 15 kills against Brown.

A four-year letterwinner at Kaneland High School, Jablonski had over 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her prep career. The Knights won the Northern Illinois Big 12 East Conference championship three times in four seasons with four IHSA Class 3A Regional titles.

“Katie has a high volleyball IQ and has competed for championships,” coach Ray Gooden said. “It’s great to have an experienced player from the area join our team. Her experience will help our group.”
