Another new confirmed case of COVID-19 at Pontiac Correctional Center was reported Saturday to the Livingston County Health Department . The individual who tested positive is a man in his 60s who was asymptomatic at the time of testing. He is currently recovering in isolation.

Due to the increased COVID-19 activity at the prison, additional protective measures are being implemented in order to identify new cases and ensure the health and safety of staff and inmates, including more frequent testing.

The Livingston County Health Department reported Saturday it has received 776 COVID-19 test results. Of that, 32 (4.1%) have been confirmed positive, 744 tests confirmed negative.

Twenty-six of the previously reported confirmed cases have been removed from isolation, four cases remain active, and two cases have resulted in death due to complications related to COVID-19. Of those individuals who have tested positive, five were asymptomatic at the time of testing.
