DeKALB – Westminster Presbyterian Church will offer a special performance by cellist Thomas Cappaert during the live-streamed worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Cappaert composed the piece, "Revīvificāre," in the memory of a child of a musical colleague who died in a terrible accident. This French word means “to revivify” which, in English, means to somehow return back to life.
This cello meditation is about the relentless descent of pain upon the heart, while recognizing that the agony has a place to go, even though the sorrow is unrelieved.
Cappaert is the principal cellist of the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and he teaches Suzuki cello at Northern Illinois University.
