Gov. JB Pritzker's executive order closing non-essential businesses includes closure of playgrounds.
The Ottawa Police Department released a reminder press release Monday all playgrounds including basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, baseball/softball fields, park pavilions and children's recreational equipment, are closed.
Open space areas of the parks within the city are open, however, social distancing should be practiced at all times regardless of being outside or inside a building.
The Ottawa Police Department said cooperative compliance is preferred but police will enforce the closures if necessary.
"Please keep in mind this is to reduce and limit the exposure/spreading of the COVID-19 virus," said Police Chief Brent Roalson in a press release. "We all need to do our part to reduce the risk within our community."
