SYCAMORE - The total reported COVID-19 cases in DeKalb County remains eight as of Monday afternoon, according to the Illinois Public Health Department.

The DeKalb County Health Department also updated their count for the first time sine March 27 to total the eight reported cases. The two cases revealed Sunday are a person in their 40s and a person in their 50s, according to the county health department information.

The county and state health department data conflicted over the weekend because of the way the state communicates with local health departments, confirmed Lisa Gonzalez, public health administrator.

The county department only reports cases they receive by noon the day of reporting, so the county health department website does not reflect the most up-to-date numbers as of Sunday.

After a record number of daily new cases and deaths (1,105 new cases of COVID-19 and 18 more deaths) reported Sunday, and Monday those numbers were fewer. The total number of cases in Illinois as of Monday reach 5,056, with 72 deaths reported. In total, 30,446 people have been tested in the state.

Pritzker announced in his daily press briefing Saturday that an infant and a state employee were among those who passed away due to the coronavirus.

Saturday marked one week since Illinois' stay at home order was put in place.
