Recently, Gov. JB Pritzker made a change to Illinois’ Open Meetings Act to help stop the spread of coronavirus during the duration of the gubernatorial disaster proclamation.

The order says public bodies are encouraged to postpone business when possible.

“The only thing he changed in his executive order was the 'physical quorum' requirement, so all or most members can be remote,” said Don Craven, legal counsel to the Illinois Press Association.

Public bodies still must find ways for the meeting to be accessible to the public and press, as well as allow the public to talk during public comment.
