The Lake County Sheriff's Office will host a Citizen Police Academy from April 2 to June 4.
Classes will be at the sheriff’s office headquarters in Waukegan and substation in Libertyville.
The academy is open to all Lake County residents ages 18 and older who are of good moral character and have no felony convictions.
Those who attend the free course will get an in-depth view of all sheriff’s office responsibilities, including corrections, highway patrol, court security, criminal investigations, crash investigations, evidence processing and more.
Applications are available at lakecountyil.gov/577/Citizen-Police-Academy, and the deadline to apply is March 16.
“We hear great feedback from the graduates of our Citizens Police Academy year after year," Sheriff John Idleburg said in a statement. "This is a great opportunity to get an inside look at the operations of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and meet our terrific team."
