YORKVILLE – Yorkville police are seeking three unknown suspects in an alleged robbery and mob action incident that occurred late Thursday, Feb. 6.
According to a news release issued by the Yorkville Police Department, officers were notified of a person in distress at 6:45 p.m. Thursday near the 100 block of West Main Street. The release said officers were able to locate a male, 22, of Plano, lying in the front yard of a residence.
The male reportedly had suffered facial injuries from an altercation, police said in the release. According to an updated news release from police, it was alleged that the victim also had $200 cash and a Playstation taken during the incident.
Yorkville Deputy Police Chief Behr Pfizenmaier confirmed the victim told officers in his original statement that three unknown males battered him in an altercation that took place in the area of Main and Church streets. The subjects fled the area prior to police arrival, according to the release.
Pfizenmaier said he cannot comment on whether the incident was an online marketplace transaction gone wrong. What police do know, he said, is that the incident is believed to be isolated with no threat to the public.
“We’re still trying to figure out the motive and possible relation between these individuals,” Pfizenmaier said.
The victim was treated by Bristol-Kendall EMS for injuries that were not life threatening and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, according to the release.
Yorkville police are seeking information from any possible witnesses and the investigation continues, the release said.
Yorkville police were assisted on scene by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.
