DeKALB – The DeKalb Police Department welcomed a new furry face into their ranks Friday: a K-9 named Kota to fill the vacant K-9 position in the department.
Kota was selected to serve the DeKalb police as its K-9 unit from a field of eight other candidates, according to a Facebook post from the department.
Kota went through what was described as "an extensive interview process."
Born in Poland, Kota is a Dutch shepard who came from the Netherlands to the U.S. to serve police units, the post shows
DeKalb patrol officer Ryan Nicholson will train with Kota during an 8-week class in Decatur starting Jan. 27.
