Montgomery police arrested Benjamin Villalpando, Jr., age and address not available, at 11:44 p.m. Nov. 28 at a business in the 2000 block of Orchard Road as officers responded to a report of a vehicle theft.
Police said officers were told that after a customer at a nearby store was done shopping she had returned to the parking lot to find her vehicle missing. Officers were able to located the missing vehicle in the same parking lot but in a different location then where it had been parked.
Police said officers saw Villalpando going through the trunk of the vehicle. As offices approached Villalpando and the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot but was taken into custody after a short pursuit by officers.
Police said one of the officers involved in the pursuit received minor injuries but Villalpando was unhurt.
The Kendall County State's Attorney's Office has charged Villalpando with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, burglary, obstructing and resisting a peace officer and theft of mislaid property.
Police said Villalpando was transported to the Kendall County Jail in Yorkville pending court proceedings.
